"Emma is a talented photographer and we were lucky enough to have her photograph our wedding day. She was the perfect combination of relaxed and professional. She put us at ease in front of the camera and this really shone through in the pictures"
- Helen & Sam
When Helen contacted me to ask if I was available for her and Sam's wedding at Tonbridge Castle and St Julian's Club I jumped at the chance. Having got married in Tonbridge Castle myself and photographed this stunning medieval landmark many times it was an absolute pleasure to be able to photograph their wedding there. I loved the fact that they were going to do things a little differently too. Helen was not wearing a wedding gown but instead looked stunning in a gorgeous blue dress by Diane Von Verstenberg, and their relaxed approach meant that they would be walking along the aisle together lead by Sam's and Helen's children.
The sun was shining which added to the relaxed feel to the wedding. This was a celebration of two soul mates celebrating their promises surrounded by their closest friends and family and boy did it deliver! They tied the knot in the intimate Chamber Room at Tonbridge Castle, before heading out into the late afternoon sun for tea and cake, such a lovely touch. And after a wonderful private photography session inside the gatehouse and on top of the castle (on top of the world!) the wedding party headed off to St Julian's club to meet more guests with a BBQ out on the terrace and drinks in the late afternoon sun.
We made the most of the late afternoon light and some soft sunset tones in the sky before all gathering inside. Sam gave a lovely speech, followed by the cake cutting (a cake made by supremely talented friends - check it out!) and then came a surprise for Helen, a slideshow of their journey together followed by the first dance and a fab party. I learned two things during the evening party, firstly that Marcel really is the DJ of all DJs and you really need to look no further if you are after a wedding DJ - the mixes were amazing not to mention he actually played the bongos! And secondly that when your lovely couple invite you to put your camera down and just join in the party, you realise that you are a very lucky girl. And I was. It was an absolute pleasure to capture this special day.
